Customer’s issue

This customer was looking for a company with the capability to heat treat a large molybdenum crucible in a hydrogen atmosphere furnace. What is more, while this company had been performing heat treatment work in its own furnace, an increase in orders meant that it was struggling to meet deadlines. This is why it needed to come up with ways to increase treatment volumes at as low a cost as possible.

Proposals from Ohtama & results

• We undertook a heat treatment test on molybdenum in our own large hydrogen atmosphere furnace, and obtained a favorable evaluation.
• Ohtama designed a jig for the customer to create it themselves which enabled them subsequently to increase the treatment volume in a single fumace.
• The customer also accepted Ohtama’s plan to put in place a system of 2 alternating shifts to meet deadlines.
