There are a large number of sources generating magnetic fields around us in everyday life, including elevators, power cables, power rooms, electric trains and MRI equipment etc. The cause behind problems with facilities and equipment listed below may be the result of magnetic fields generated by these sources.
【Facilities】・Biomagnetic measuring devices
・Electron microscopes
・Electron beam lithography devices
・Mask inspection equipment
・Mass spectrometers
・Magnetic field measuring equipment
・Magnetic sensor development
・Focused ion beams
・Particle accelerators
・MRI equipment
Ohtama provides a variety of solutions for such areas, including magnetically shielded room and chambers, which involve the installation of magnetic shield materials supported by building walls or ceilings to create a magnetically shielded room and magnetic shield cases, which are a slightly smaller, box-type shield.
The majority of work is performed on-site and these kinds of systems are used in relatively large-sized rooms.
It is also possible to erect partitions in areas of the building with no walls to construct a new wall surface.
There are a large number of technologies that utilize or generate magnetic fields in various fields, including medicine, industry and research.
On the other hand, precision equipment susceptible to the effects of magnetic fields is widely used and these are becoming more susceptible in line with increased levels of precision in recent years.
Ohtama designs and builds magnetic shields for facilities that generate or are susceptible to magnetic fields that are tailor-made to meet customer requirements.
Research laboratory
The photo shows a magnetic shield built into a room during the building construction phase.
This is a magnetically shielded room designed to insulate the room from alternating magnetic fields emitting from overhead power lines.
Research laboratory
This photo shows a paneled room built during the building construction phase.
It is a magnetically shielded room designed to insulate the room from alternating magnetic fields emitting from internal thoroughfares.
The interior was finished in the form of general office space.
These are box-type shields that are smaller in design compared to shield rooms. They are primarily used for electron microscopes and measuring equipment that utilize electron beams and are installed so that they completely encompass the device creating a shield to protect from external magnetic fields.
The cases are made from an aluminum or stainless steel frame and insulated with a Permalloy magnetic shield.
The position and size of doors and opening can be made to order.

The photo shows an example of the construction/installation of a shield case that completely encompasses the high performance electron microscope from external magnetic fields.
Prior to installation of the shield the microscope image was being distorted by external magnetic fields preventing normal observation of the specimen.
The shield reduced the external magnetic field by several tenths, allowing the image from the microscope to be viewed normally.
*May not be necessary depending on the construction method.
